Knit at the Y
Beginner Level
Beginner Knitting: From “What Is This Stick?” to “I Made This!”
Always wanted to learn how to knit but didn’t know where to start? This beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to jump in—no experience required and no pressure to be perfect.
Designed for ages 8 and up, this four-session class will guide students through the basics of knitting in a fun, supportive environment. We’ll learn how to cast on, knit, purl, read a simple pattern, and bind off—all while working on small, confidence-boosting projects.
By the end of the class, students will:
- Understand basic knitting skills
- Complete at least one finished project
- Be able to follow a simple knitting pattern
- Walk away saying, “I made this!” (very proudly)
All skill levels welcome. Mistakes encouraged. Yarn jokes inevitable.
Ages: 8 and up
Format: 4 sessions, 90 minutes each
Supplies: Yarn, needles, and patterns provided
